OSU is a collective born in 2001 to work around the issues of occupation and use of abandoned public and private space. OSU is trying to realize and collect material to ask the attention for these questions.
By Performance and Video OSU has been working on specific problems of abandon and desertification in Portugal. By 2001 we worked on a private abandoned 19th Century house in Porto’s centre, making mural paintings to show people the destruction plan for that building. In 2003 OSU started to occupy the public squares transformed by Porto2001, and now completely uncharacterized. In 2005 we went to Alentejo (region in the south of Portugal) to make a documentary about the abandoned stone quarries and railways in this region. There we worked with the students of a local school, with old workers and the community in general.
